Getting paid should not become a disconnected step after a quote is accepted.
When payment happens in a separate system, sales and operations teams can lose visibility into what happened next. Did the customer pay? Was the requested down payment completed? Is the transaction ready to move forward?
That is what the expanded QuoteWerks integration with Alternative Payments is designed to improve.
Available to both QuoteWerks Desktop and QuoteWerks Web users with QuoteValet, the integration connects successful Alternative Payments payment activity back to the corresponding quote, creating a more complete workflow from quote creation through acceptance and payment.
QuoteWerks → Quote → Acceptance → Payment → QuoteWerks
For sales, finance, and operations teams, that means better visibility into what happens after the customer accepts a quote while keeping successful payment activity connected to the original transaction.
The relationship between QuoteWerks and Alternative Payments did not start because we were looking for another logo to add to an integrations page. It started because customers were asking for it.
QuoteWerks customers wanted a way to use Alternative Payments as part of their quoting workflow before a deeper integration was available.
Around that time, I met Baxter Lanius, Founder and CEO of Alternative Payments, at an industry event. We talked about what customers were trying to accomplish and looked for a practical way to get something started.
The first solution was a payment-link integration. It gave QuoteWerks customers a way to move from an accepted quote into the Alternative Payments payment process without waiting for a deeper connection to become possible.
That solved an immediate need and gave our mutual customers a useful starting point. Now we can take that workflow further.
QuoteWerks users can request a full payment, down payment, or partial payment from their customers.
When that payment is successfully completed through Alternative Payments, QuoteWerks receives confirmation of the successful payment on the corresponding quote.
For example, a business could request a down payment when a customer accepts a quote and collect the remaining balance later. When the requested payment succeeds through Alternative Payments, that successful payment is reflected back in the QuoteWerks workflow.
The important part is not simply sending a customer to a payment provider. The deeper integration connects the result of that payment back to the quote.
As Baxter explained:
“MSPs run their business on a stack of different tools, and payments have to work across all of them. That's what makes payments challenging, but when we build natively into other platforms, we can offer the best solution. The market asked us to partner with QuoteWerks, so we did! The entire quote-to-cash workflow is fully automated in both QuoteWerks and Alternative Payments, making MSPs' lives easier and improving their business operations every day.” - Baxter Lanius, Founder and CEO of Alternative Payments
That is the direction we want our integrations to move.
Alternative Payments joins a much larger payments ecosystem within QuoteWerks.
QuoteWerks supports more than 80 payment gateways, giving businesses significant flexibility in choosing how they accept payments from their customers.
That breadth of choice is intentional. We do not think your quoting software should dictate how your company gets paid.
Different businesses have different payment requirements, existing financial relationships, transaction models, geographic needs, and accounting processes. The provider that makes sense for one business may be completely wrong for another, and the provider that works today may not necessarily be the right choice several years from now.
QuoteWerks should not be the reason you are forced to change.
“We want customers to be able to use the systems that make sense for their business,” said Brian Laufer, Vice President of QuoteWerks. “QuoteWerks shouldn’t be the reason they have to change their CRM, PSA, accounting system, distributor, or payment provider. That’s why we’ve invested so heavily in integrations, including support for more than 80 payment gateways. As customers grow and their needs change, QuoteWerks should be able to grow with them without forcing them into a different technology stack.”
Payment is one of the areas where businesses often see their quoting requirements become more sophisticated over time.
A company may start with a simple requirement: create a quote, get it accepted, and collect the full amount. As the business grows, the process may require down payments, partial payments, recurring items, more complex approvals, different payment providers, accounting workflows, procurement steps, and better visibility across sales and finance.
The same pattern happens throughout the quoting process.
A CRM quoting feature or lightweight quoting application may work perfectly well when quoting is simple. Over time, however, quoting can become more operationally important and involve more products and services, configurations, pricing rules, approvals, procurement, electronic acceptance, payments, and integrations with other systems.
Your quoting software didn’t get worse. Your business outgrew it.
QuoteWerks is designed for that next stage of quoting maturity, providing deeper quoting capabilities while allowing businesses to keep the CRM, PSA, accounting system, distributors, payment providers, and other technology that already works for them.
The Alternative Payments relationship is a good example of how we think integrations should develop.
Customers asked for the connection. We found a practical way to support it with payment links. As deeper integration capabilities became available, we expanded the connection so successful payments could come back into QuoteWerks.
We do not think customers should have to wait for a perfect integration before receiving value. At the same time, an integration should not stop evolving simply because the first version works.
Customer needs change, platforms change, and integrations should be able to change with them.
QuoteWerks supports more than 115 native integrations, more than 80 payment gateways, and thousands of additional application connections through Zapier.
QuoteWerks also provides REST API, webhooks, scripting, and other integration capabilities that allow businesses to connect quoting into a broader technology stack.
The goal is not to force every part of the sales process into one system. It is to let businesses use the systems that make sense for them and connect those systems where the workflow requires it.
The expanded Alternative Payments integration is another example of that philosophy in practice. It started with a customer request, became a practical first integration, and has now grown into a more complete quote-to-payment workflow.
The expanded Alternative Payments integration is available to both QuoteWerks Desktop and QuoteWerks Web users with QuoteValet.
QuoteWerks customers can use the integration to request full payments, down payments, or partial payments and receive confirmation in QuoteWerks when those payments are successfully completed through Alternative Payments.
Customers also need an Alternative Payments account to use Alternative Payments as their payment provider.
If you already use Alternative Payments, the expanded integration provides a more connected way to bring successful payment activity back into your QuoteWerks workflow.
If you are evaluating payment providers, QuoteWerks supports more than 80 payment gateways so you can choose the payment solution that best fits your business rather than being limited by your quoting platform.
